Parksville
is part of the Oceanside group of communities, which stretch along the Strait of Georgia, from Nanoose Bay to Deep Bay, on the central, East Coast of Vancouver Island. With
its mild climate, and long sandy beaches, Parksville
is a popular summer resort and retirement area.
Centrally located, at the junctions of Highways 19, 19A (Oceanside Route) & 4A,
Parksville is ideal as a base for trips to all parts of Vancouver Island.
Victoria, Tofino/Ucluelet & Campbell River are all within a 2 hour
drive. Ferry services to Vancouver and other mainland destinations are
available 30 to 45 minutes away, in Nanaimo, from Departure Bay and Duke
Point.
With a population of just over 10,000, Parksville provides all the services
of a city while retaining the qualities of small town life.
Blessed with an abundance of parks and trails, recreational opportunities
abound here. From seashore to mountain peak, lovers of the outdoors are
sure to find plenty to do and to explore.
The diverse topography and variety of ecosystems in the Parksville area
led the United Nations to create the Mt. Arrowsmith Biosphere Reserve. Named for the tallest peak in the region, which provides a striking backdrop to the city, the biosphere
designation has brought international attention to the area.
