Parksville is a popular
area to over-winter for people from east of the mountains and from Northern B.C.
The winters here are mild compared to other parts of the country, and, protected
by Mt. Arrowsmith from the wet, wild storms that blow in from the Pacific Ocean,
the Parksville area also enjoys some of the lowest annual rainfalls on the West Coast.
Some years it is possible to golf right through the winter. There are six courses
within ½ an hour's drive of Park Sands. While snow is not unheard of,
it is the exception rather than the rule.
Monthly off-season rates are available at Park Sands from
Oct. 1 through to the end of April. During this time only our
full service sites, with concrete pads are available. Our washrooms
and showers are closed, but the laundry remains open.
High-speed cable Internet access is available, either directly to your site,
or, take advantage of our wireless Internet service.
Telephone service is available to your site through Telus.
Because of our location in downtown Parksville, all of your
day to day requirements can be found close by. Stores, banks
and other services are all within easy walking distance.
A wide variety of organized, or self-directed activities are
available in the area. From education, to arts and crafts,
to sports, there is plenty to keep you busy during your stay.

For those with ornithological interests, or even for those that just like
looking at birds, Parksville provides plenty of opportunities Birding Activities.
Located on the Pacific Flyway, the local shoreline is an important resting stop for birds on their migrations
north and south. Particularly in the spring, large numbers of shore birds, as
well as various sea mammals, congregate in Parksville Bay to feed on the
abundance of herring roe deposited in the annual spawn. The Brant Festival.
draws attention to our feathered visitors, with events focused on wildlife and the arts.
